Powering the AI Era: Zelestra at Euskadi 2030

Zelestra was proud to be represented at the III BASQUEFIK Ekitaldia Meeting, the annual gathering of the Basque Country's Financial and Investment Cluster, where senior business leaders convened to chart Euskadi's strategic path through to 2030.

Javier Arellano, our Global Head of M&A, shared perspectives on Zelestra's evolution and the customer-centric philosophy that has driven our accelerated growth in recent years. His contribution came as part of a wide-ranging discussion on the forces set to define the regional and global economy across this decade.

"Renewable energy will continue to lead as the most cost-competitive, fastest-to-deploy, and most decarbonisation-aligned solution available — regardless of future geopolitical or regulatory scenarios."

Key themes:

1 Surging electricity demand

AI data centres and the broad electrification of the economy are driving a scale of energy demand growth that is without modern precedent. The years ahead will require an extraordinary expansion of generation capacity.

2 Renewables remain the answer

Renewable energy holds a durable advantage as the lowest-cost, fastest-to-build, and most carbon-aligned solution on the table. That advantage holds firm across a wide range of geopolitical and regulatory futures.

3 Storage is the enabler

The rapid integration of battery storage is transforming what renewables can deliver. For multi-technology companies like Zelestra, this convergence creates a defining opportunity to power the next phase of digital infrastructure.

The forum provided a genuinely valuable forum for exchanging ideas with some of the Basque Country's most forward-thinking business leaders — and reinforced our conviction that the energy transition and the digital transition are, increasingly, one and the same story.

We extend our thanks to Aon for organising the event, to Deusto Business School for hosting, and to all speakers and guests for such a rich and insightful discussion.
