New CEO Appointed to Lead Expansion Efforts in Latin America

The newly appointed CEO for our Latin American Business Unit aims to accelerate the growth of operations in the region, where the company has projects in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia.

José Luis García Pérez, with over 20 years of experience in the renewable sector, has been appointed to lead the company’s expansion efforts in Latin America. He has previously served as the Chief Development & Construction Officer since 2022.

With this appointment, the company seeks to bolster its position in a strategic market, boasting a portfolio of solar, wind, and energy storage projects totaling 5.5 GW across Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Ecuador, with 889 MW contracted, out of which 621 MW are either operational or in the construction phase.

This strategic move aligns with the company’s strategy of empowering regional Business Units to forge strong local partnerships with customers, communities, investors, and other stakeholders, while leveraging the support capabilities of a global renewable energy company.

José Luis García Pérez stated, “It is an honor to lead the company in the dynamic and strategic renewable energy market in Latin America. My goal is to consolidate the company’s presence and lead the development of ambitious multi-technology projects that will help drive renewable goals in the various nations in which we operate and build a greener future.”

The company’s activity in Latin America began in 2010 and currently employs more than 700 individuals globally. Recognized as the world’s most sustainable utility of 2023, according to the Sustainalytics ESG Risk Rating, the company is committed to sustainability.

Leo Moreno, CEO, commented, “José Luis García’s experience and leadership capabilities are perfectly aligned with our growth plan in Latin America. His expertise and understanding of local markets and stakeholders allow us to orient our strategy towards the customer and continue pioneering renewable energy solutions, making a lasting impact on our journey towards a sustainable, resilient, and affordable future.”
