Celepsa and Zelestra sign a long-term PPA that will allow the construction of a new 238 MWdc solar project in Peru

  • The agreement will ensure the supply of approximately 450 GWh of renewable energy annually for Celepsa’s operations, aligning with Peru’s sustainability commitments.
  • The PPA will allow Zelestra to build a new 238 MWdc solar project, increasing Zelestra’s contracted portfolio to over 530 MWdc in Peru.

Celepsa, a power generation and marketing company, part of the UNACEM Group, based in Peru with an international footprint, and Zelestra, a global multi-technology and customer-focused renewable energy company, have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) that guarantees the supply of renewable energy for Celepsa’s operations in Peru.

In line with Zelestra’s commitment to support its customers in the decarbonization of their operations, the long-term PPA will ensure Celepsa receives approximately 450 GWh of renewable energy annually, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

The PPA will enable the construction of a new 238 MWdc solar power project in Peru.  The new project, combined with the San Martín project that will come into operation in the next couple months, means Zelestra now has a contracted portfolio of over 530 MWdc in the country.

José Luis García, CEO of Zelestra Latam, commented: “This agreement reflects our firm commitment to work strategically with our customers to offer tailor-made solutions, as well as our commitment to the Peruvian market. We are proud to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions in the country and to promote continued socio-economic development through the delivery of new projects and the creation of new jobs.”

Likewise, Eduardo Rivas, General Manager of Celepsa, mentioned: This agreement reinforces our commitment to the energy transition and is a strategic step that allows us to build a diversified renewable portfolio for our customers. In addition to the purchase of solar energy, the contract includes I-REC certificates, guaranteeing the renewable origin of the energy.”

Zelestra is committed to supporting customers in Peru, a key market for growth, and assisting the country’s transition to a more sustainable energy future. For Celepsa, which is working on similar agreements and developing its own portfolio of projects, the agreement represents a milestone in the consolidation of its sustainable growth plan in the energy sector.
